A beautiful collectable copy of the scarce inaugural issue from January 1919. The German language Der Orchideengarten is often cited as the world's first weird fiction publication and predated Weird Tales by several years. The monthly publication ran for only three years and produced just 51 issues that are often collected for their spectacular cover art. This copy is paired with the 2020 reproduction published by Zagava that presents the original German with its English translation.

This copy of the original January 1919 edition has some light chipping around the edges. The stapled binding is secure with splits at the head and the foot. Pages toned as usual but are not brittle. Soiled on back cover. The Zagava reproduction has a small impression on the back cover, else fine.
